Hi, I’m Nicole, and this is Mountain Red Twig Living.
I’m based out of Bozeman, Montana, where the Gallatin Valley stretches wide and the Gallatin Mountains sit right outside my window. This blog is my way of sharing what life actually looks like up in the mountains. The seasons, the wildlife, the pastimes, the small moments that make mountain living what it is.
You’ll find posts about hiking, camping and wildlife I’ve spotted, places worth exploring, and honest stories about what it means to live in one of the most beautiful and unforgiving landscapes in the country. No filters, no fantasy, just real Montana life.
I started Mountain Red Twig Living because I kept looking for a blog that felt like the Montana I actually know. Not the postcard version. The version where your truck gets stuck in snow in April, snow can arrive in June, where you can go days without seeing another person, where the first snowfall of October catches you off guard every single year, even though it shouldn’t.
That’s the Montana I want to write about.
The name comes from the Red Twig Dogwood, a shrub that grows wild here and turns a brilliant deep red in winter. I used to grow it when I lived in Bozeman. To me, it’s always felt like a symbol of this place. Tough, rooted, beautiful in the harshest season.
Glad you found your way here. Pull up a chair.
